The Old Me, Is NOT The New Me!

I know this has happened to you…. you’ve seen numerous ads from Facebook!

It seems like every single post was an ad from something. I couldn’t take it much longer! So, I finally clicked “I don’t like to see this ad”. Once I hit that, I was prompted to see what my “interests” were on Facebook. I usually don’t have time for that, but this time I said… you know what, I’ll see what “interests” I have on Facebook.

I was SHOCKED!

There were over 1,000 interests, broken into like 10 categories! I started looking and some things I was interested in, but a lot of those things I wasn’t interested in anymore! I was surprised it was even on the list!

SO, for the next two hours (yes TWO HOURS!) I went through every “interest” category and deleted anything I wasn’t interested in. It was so much!!

Towards the end of it, I realized

1. That was TOO MUCH.
AND
2. I realized how much I had changed.

I have been on Facebook for about 15 years. I was one of the first people on it, when it only allowed college students to join. This social media company has known me for so many years! It had categorized me… I am not the same person I was 15 years ago…. Shoot I am not the same person I was a year ago!!!

This got me thinking some more and what prompted me to write this blog post…

You see a lot of us have changed, but we haven’t allowed ourselves to change. We haven’t taken inventory of the things from our past and let them be our past. We just continue to let the old us, dictate the new us. That can cause frustration, stagnation, and anxiety.

Now is the time to let go of who you once were or now is the time to change if you are wanting to change yourself.

Go back and take an inventory of yourself and let go of who you once were. If you want to change, now is the time to change! It might not be easy at first, but once you do it….

You’ll LOVE it!

I know changing my Facebook ad preferences may not be a big deal, but it makes me so much happier to not see millions of ads (that really don’t apply to me) and see fun posts from people I love! I can finally get excited about opening up that app, instead of annoyed with the endless ads that I’ll never EVER buy.
